Whether its been 1 year, 10 years or 30 years, parents who've lost a child want to know they're remembered and that goes for children lost before birth, as well.

There was a special mass held at Cathedral Of The Epiphany in Sioux City Tuesday night.

It's an annual mass to remember children that died before birth due to miscarriage, still birth or abortion.

Families lit candles and received "Certificates Of Life" for their babies.

Justin Frato, who lost a baby by miscarriage said, "It's an important part of the whole grieving process. I think a lot of people leave it buried inside, but it helps one to grieve. And I think it also simultaneously, helps us to affirm that they were a person."

At the service, families and clergy also prayed for the children to be in heaven, even though they weren't able to be baptized.
