An on–line restaurant directory and a growing digital scrap booking business are winners in this year's innovation market competition. Ballots were tallied Wednesday night in South Sioux City after five finalists presented their "innovations" for judges.
Competition in the 3rd annual event put on by the Sioux City Growth Organization was the closest ever.
"I heard people say they changed their minds three and four times and they all thought that they walked in and had their vote decided on and then based on the presentations it was a whirlwind really there," says Innovation Co-Chair Becca Feauto. Adding, "Just a lot of good ideas."
The brother and sister team of Nathan and Chelsea Schulz picked up Wednesday's top prize of $5,000 dollars for their "Eat Sioux City" on–line restaurant directory. Sara Gotch plans to use her $2,500 dollar runner-up award to take a digital scrap booking concept to a new level.
"Definitely doing it for friends and family and now taking it to the public and having the resources with the money that I've been given I can definitely take that to the next level," said Gotch.
This year's innovation market drew 51 entries.
