Recovery operations on the Big Sioux River at Falls Park in Sioux Falls will be suspended at 8PM tonight if the body of 28-year-old Lyle Francis Eagletail is not located. Safety concerns make it impossible for workers to extend the search after dark. Earlier Friday crews diverted water upstream from Falls Park in an effort to improve search operations by lowering water levels.

Emergency crews are searching the Big Sioux River for two adults who went underwater after rescuing a boy who had fallen into the strong current.
Sioux Falls Fire Chief Jim Sideras says an emergency call came in just after 6 p.m. Thursday reporting that a 4-year-old boy had fallen into the river in Falls Park. The caller then said two adults who had rescued the boy went underwater just down river from the waterfalls.
Sideras says the water temperature is hovering around freezing. He says crews also are working against the river's strong current and lots of foam, which firefighters are trying to blow away.
The surrounding park, a city tourist attraction, has been roped off with police tape. Sideras says the boy's condition and the adults' identities weren't immediately known.
