Iowa was up by ten at halftime against #8 Michigan State but couldn't hang on to win it's 2nd round game at the Big 10 Men's Basketball Tournament on Friday night.  The Spartans advanced to semifinal round play with a 56-53 win.

Iowa (21-11) now is on pins and needles until NCAA Tournament invitations get handed out on Sunday.  Most onlookers thought Iowa needed at least 2 tournament wins to get a shot at the Big Dance.

Melsahn Basabe paced the Hawkeyes with 8 points and 8 rebounds.
