Iowa City, IA - The Iowa Hawkeyes had hoped their tough conference schedule would be enough to get an NCAA Tournament invite.
Selection Sunday passed and the Hawkeyes never heard their name called.
Iowa posted a 21-12 overall record and went 9-9 in Big Ten Conference play -- a conference widely regarded for being tops in college basketball this season.
The Hawkeyes accepted a bid to play in the NIT Tournament as a three seed against six seed Indiana State. They will play on March 20 at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
The Hawkeyes haven't made the NCAA Tournament since 2006.
