A Storm Lake woman is facing child endangerment charges after part of her three year old daughter's finger had to be amputated.

According to police and medical examiners, 30 year old, Kaylyn Khamtan placed a rubber band with a piece of tissue around the child's finger for roughly 6 days trying to cover a hang nail.

The ligature constricted blood flow and mummified the finger, and the rubber band ended up sinking into the bone.

Khamtan has been booked into the Buena Vista County jail on a $10,000 bond.
