It was "Mayors March for Meals Day" on Wednesday, a day to spread awareness about senior citizen hunger.

Local leaders like Sioux City councilwoman, Rhonda Capron volunteered for "Siouxland Aging Services" to help deliver a warm meal to seniors in need.

Rhonda said the best part of delivering the meals was to see all their smiling faces when she came to the door.

"They're happy to see you. You come to the door, and they want to chat and you ask how they're doing. It's kind of a connection the outside world because a lot of these people are inbound," she said.

Rhonda made deliveries to about a dozen houses.

Ten other city leaders helped out as well.
