It's a tough thing for 81 year-old Mary Norby of Sioux City to admit, eating healthy is tough for her.
"I eat a lot of unhealthy things. Lots of things with sugar. I love sugar," Mary said.
On top of that, marry suffers complications from a stroke, which means cooking for herself and her husband Marvin, is very hard.
"I can't conceive of hot and cold until it's too late. I'm afraid of getting burnt. I can't lift the pan, and I can't lift it and scoop things out."
But fortunately for now, there is help.
Emeritus at Northpark Place in Sioux City is delivering them a free full meal through the "10,000 meals in 60 Days" program.
"When they retire they have that loss of income and being able to buy those healthy fruits and vegetables becomes more difficult because that food is more expensive. As well as not being able to get to the store or have a caregiver that will take them out to buy that food," said Brittany Poss, Community Relations Director at Emeritus.
Right now, Mary says she's trying to work on her health getting a walk in when she can.
"Now, I go out and walk during the day. That's the best that I can do," Mary added.
