It took four different fire departments to put out an early morning fire that broke out just after midnight.

Crews were dispatched to 2570 Barnett Ave, at the main office building of J & G Pallets near Salix, off the Port Neal exit on I-29.

The building was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters first arrived.

"(On a) Scale of 1 to 10, we're probably looking about an 8. it was fully engulfed, it was self-fending, it was already through the roof, so structure was a total loss by the time we got on scene," said Salix Fire Chief Justin Iverson.

Fire Departments from Salix, Sergeant Bluff, Sloan and the nearby 185th Refueling Wing of the Iowa National Guard were all called to assist in the fire.

It took crews roughly an hour to get the blaze under control.

The main office building suffered a total loss, but the main manufacturing building only suffered slight smoke damage.

No injuries were reported, and there's no word yet on how or where the fire started.
