Sioux City, IA - Iowa freshman basketball standouts Mike Gesell and Adam Woodbury both say the loss in the NIT title game still stings. But they're also upset that they didn't get into the NCAA Tournament. When Channel 9 Sports Director Travis Morgan asked them if they'd rather win the NIT or lose in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, both gave an answer that might surprise you.
Mike Gesell said "I would say right now an NIT Championship. Not many teams get to end their season with a win. I'm not saying I want to play in the NIT again. I'm just saying I like winning championships."
Woodbury says ""That's a tough question. For our season this year it was awesome playing in the NIT and seeing how far we went. But on the outside people would probably say getting beat in the NCAA Tournament. But for me the experience I got this year made it all that more better."
Tune in to Channel 9 on Tuesday and Wednesday as both players sit down for one on one interviews with Travis Morgan. They'll tell us what life as a freshman athlete in the Big Ten is like.
