Sioux City—The Sioux City Xs were finally able to get back in the win-column with a 5-1 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs.
The Saltdogs were going for the three-game sweep and jumped out to an early lead with a solo home run in the first for the second consecutive night. Tonight the shot came from Curt Smith.
The Xs were able to answer as Bryan Pounds hit one deep off the wall in left field in the bottom of the second. Peter Barrows came all the way around from first to tie the game at two. Pounds would drive in two more runs later in the game.
Richard Salazar was dominant on the mound once again, picking up his third straight victory. The home run was the only hit Salazar allowed in seven innings of work.
Sioux City improves to 28-46 on the year. They are off on Monday and begin a three-game set in Winnipeg on Tuesday.
