Kingsley, IA—The Kingsley-Pierson Panthers had a chance to be the first Siouxland football team with a win in the 2013 season. The Boyer Valley Bulldogs had other plans.
Boyer Valley quarterback Cody Thoreson and wide receiver Calvan Wood hooked up twice in the first half for touchdowns, and the Bulldogs rolled the Panthers, 50-14.
K-P started the scoring on a scamper by quarterback Austin Neumann, but the Bulldogs answered right back as Walter Schaben returned the ensuing kickoff for a score.
Panther Jacob Harvey scored shortly into the second quarter and Kingsley-Pierson was up 14-6, but it was all Boyer Valley from there.
Wood made a fantastic catch in the end zone to get the Bulldogs back within two. Shortly after, Reed Block scored on a punt return giving Boyer Valley its first lead.
Following a touchdown run by Nathan Rudd, Thoreson found Wood as time expired in the first half, giving the Bulldogs a 36-14 lead into the locker room.
Boyer Valley is now 1-0 while Kingsley-Pierson will look for its first win next week against Laurens-Marathon.
