Sioux City—Three Siouxland athletes are up for an award from the Omaha World Herald.
Dom Thompson-Williams, Daniel Tillo, and Makayla Augustine are three of twelve finalists for the Western Iowa Athlete of the Year award.
Thompson-Williams led the Sioux City East Black Raiders to a runner-up finish last month at the Class 4-A State Baseball Tournament. He was also a first-team all-state wide receiver last fall in football.
Tillo, entering only his junior year at Sioux City North, was first-team all-state in basketball as well as a standout quarterback for the Stars. He also finished a perfect 7-0 on the mound this summer.
Augustine, who just graduated from Bishop Heelan and will play basketball at Morningside this winter, was first-team all-state on the hardwood. She was also second-team all-state in softball and a tennis standout.
The winner will be announced in the Sunday Edition of the Omaha World Herald.
