ST. PAUL, Minnesota—The No. 20 Wayne State College Wildcats used a career-high 20 kills from senior Cori Hobbs to defeat No.1, and six-time defending national champion, Concordia-St. Paul Saturday at the 2013 Holiday Inn & Suites Lake Elmo Classic, 3-1 (25-15, 25-22, 22-25, 25-23).
With the win, WSC improves to 3-0 so far in the season.
Hobbs added 15 digs with her 20 kills. Katie Hughes added a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs and sophomore setter Leisa McClintock had 53 assists and 10 digs.
The Wildcats outhit the host Golden Bears .252-.191 and had 16 more kills. Concordia St. Paul did have an edge in blocks, 11-6.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday afternoon against No. 21 Wingate from North Carolina.
