AMES, Iowa—After winning the Cy-Hawk Trophy for the first time since 2010, the Iowa Hawkeyes were quick to give credit to their workhorse running back, Mark Weisman.
The Air Force Academy-transfer carried the ball 35 times for 145 yards in Saturday's 27-21 win over Iowa State.
While Weisman did not score Saturday, his offensive line was happy to block for a runner like him.
"He's a fantastic running back, we love blocking for him," said Iowa offensive lineman Brandon Scherff. "We know he's going to do his job and we just have to do ours and we'll be alright."
The Hawkeyes are back in action Saturday against Western Michigan. Kick off is set for noon at Kinnick Stadium and can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
