McCOOK LAKE, SD—For the past five seasons, Sioux Falls Christian has had the number of Dakota Valley on the volleyball court. The Panthers are winless against the Chargers in that time.
Sioux Falls Christian is the top-ranked team in South Dakota though, and has won three straight state championships.
Their dominance continued tonight as they swept the second-ranked Panthers, 3-0 Thursday evening.
ORANGE CITY, Iowa—Volleyball fans in Orange City got their money's worth Thursday night as No. 3 MOC-Floyd Valley hosted No. 1 Sheldon.
The home team got off to a quick start, taking the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-17. The Orabs, however, showed why they are the top-ranked team in the state, rebounding to take the third 25-20.
The Dutch were simply too much on their home floor, however, winning the fourth and final set 29-27.
The loss is Sheldon's first of the season (17-1) while MOC-Floyd Valley improves to 14-3.
LE MARS, Iowa—In a battle of ranked teams, Western Christian flexed its collective muscle en route to a 3-0 sweep of Le Mars in the Ice Cream Capital of the World.
The Wolfpack, ranked second in Class 2A, used a variety of offensive weapons to overwhelm the Bulldogs, who are ranked 13th in Class 4A
With the win, Western Christian improves to 20-1 so far in 2013, while Le Mars falls to 8-3 on the season.
SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa—The Sergeant Bluff-Luton Warriors hosted a triangular Thursday afternoon, welcoming in Sioux City North and Sioux City West.
The Warriors and Wolverines opened the day, and although West played well early, the Warriors proved to be too much to handle.
They swept the Wolverines, 25-16 and 25-10 to open the action.
The Warriors also swept the North Stars, 2-0.
