LINCOLN, Neb.—Despite not having their starting quarterback for the second straight contest, Nebraska won their Big Ten Conference opener 39-19 over Illinois Saturday.
Junior running back Ameer Abdullah ran for a career-high 225 yards and two touchdowns and Tommy Armstrong, Jr., in his second career start added two more scores on 8 of 13 passing for 135 yards.
Nebraska (4-1, 1-0) makes its first road trip of the season next Saturday when they travel to Purdue. Kick off is set for 11 AM and the game can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
