CEDAR FALLS, Iowa--Despite losing its last 18 games on the road, the University of South Dakota rallied from down 21 points to upset No. 11 Northern Iowa, 38-31, in double overtime on Saturday evening.
Both teams got off to a quick start with UNI's Sawyer Kollmorgen connecting with Chad Owens for 34 yards and a touchdown on the first drive of the game.
USD's David Earl responded with a 48-yard touchdown pass to Riley Donovan shortly after to tie it up at seven.
But then UNI began to take over, going up as much as 28-7 at one point in the second half.
With time running out in the fourth quarter, Earl found Terrance Terry on fourth and goal to send the game into overtime.
