ORANGE CITY, Iowa--It came down to the wire but the Northwestern Red Raiders held on to upset No. 14 Concordia, 30-28 Saturday.
After jumping out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter, the Red Raiders stalled offensively and the Bulldogs responded with a 14-point second quarter to take a one-point lead into the locker room.
The Northwestern defense was able to turn away a two-point conversion attempt late in the fourth quarter though to hold on for a two-point victory.
The loss is the first of the season for Concordia (6-1, 4-1). Northwestern (4-2, 3-2) travels to Dordt next Saturday with kickoff set for 1 PM.
LINCOLN, Neb.--The Dordt Defenders offense was absent and Nebraska Wesleyan took advantage in a 28-0 victory Saturday afternoon.
Dordt's rushing attack could only muster 52 rushing yards on the afternoon, and the Prairie Wolves held the Defenders to 100 total yards of offense.
Nebraska Wesleyan is now 4-3 (4-2) on the year. Dordt falls to 2-5 (0-5) and hosts Northwestern next Saturday.
