SIOUX CITY, Iowa--After winning ten of their last thirteen games in 2012-13, the Morningside men's basketball team is aiming to improve this season.
The Mustangs return four starters--Tanner Ferguson, Tanner Miller, Kyle Nikkel, and Danny Rudeen--from last season's 18-15 (11-9) squad.
In the preseason GPAC Coaches' Poll, the Mustangs were tabbed to finish fourth in the conference, but the team feels they can improve on that and ideally return to the national tournament.
Ferguson said this year's team will continue to run and be aggressive both defensively and on offense with several outside shooters returning.
Morningside opens its 2013-14 schedule on Nov. 1 against William Penn in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The Statesmen are the defending national runners-up and the Mustangs added they would like to win that game on the road as revenge for last year's loss at the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center.
