ORANGE CITY, Iowa--Theo Bartman scored four touchdowns and the Northwestern defense forced five Morningside turnovers in a 38-28 upset win Saturday.
The Mustangs got on the board first when Brandon Wegher reached the end zone, but Bartman answered with a nine-yard scamper of his own to tie things up.
After that, Ryan Kasdorf threw two interceptions in the first half and the Red Raiders went into the locker room up 28-7 on the defending national runners-up.
While Morningside (8-1, 7-1) would mount a second-half rally, it was too little too late as Northwestern was able to run out the clock for the victory.
The Mustangs wrap up the regular season next week at home against Doane at 1 PM.
Northwestern (7-2, 6-2) travel to Midland next Saturday to close out the regular season. Kickoff is set for 1 PM.
HASTINGS, Neb.--The Dordt Defenders fell behind 21-0 on the road after the first quarter and fell to Hastings on Saturday 66-21.
The Defenders (2-8, 0-8) close out the regular season next Saturday at home against Dakota Wesleyan.
