HINTON, Iowa--The last time Hinton played at the state volleyball tournament, the current seniors were ten years old.
But now, they've grown up.
The four--Brylee Schindel, Tori Bishop, Lauren Hedlund, and Kasey Reuter--helped lead the Black Hawks to a 26-7 record, a number-seven ranking in Class 2A, and achieved personal milestones as well. For the first time in their high school careers, the Black Hawks beat Le Mars Gehlen Catholic and Unity Christian in the same season.
While the team's goals were to make it to the state tournament, now that they've achieved that, they say the plan has changed.
"My goal for the rest of the season is make a statement," Reuter said. "We want to show that small-town, Hinton, Iowa? We have something to prove."
The Black Hawks take on third-ranked Sumner-Fredericksburg on Wednesday at noon.
