Future plans for the Sioux City Hotel in downtown have officially been put on hold.
On Monday, the City Council voted to take the item off of the agenda.
Connor Acquisitions, the company that had been looking to purchase the hotel and change it into a brand name attraction has not made any new advancements. This has led the city to believe it will not be able to follow through with its previous proposals.
Sioux City Economic Development Director Marty Dougherty says, "If the city is going to participate financially it needs to be a good quality upper scale brand and that's really all of what we are saying, whether that's this developer, if they continue or not - we're not sure yet if they will or another group that would come in."
Mayor Bob Scott added the city will be looking into anyone who comes with a long term plan that will help Sioux City as well as the Convention Center when it comes to remodeling the Sioux City Hotel.
